‘Madonna’ is a woven textile and fashion design collection based on the artist Madonna and her 1980’s film ‘Desperately Seeking Susan’.
The collection explores ideas of femininity, feminism, marriage and different views of what it means to be a women. Ashley looked at different gender roles and the fashion associated with them, such as power dressing, lingerie and wedding dresses in the 1980’s.
The textiles are all handwoven by Ashley using upcycled yarns, including a statement collar woven with neon pink washing line.
